Yalda Foroughmand Arabi (b.Tehran, Iran) lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
Foroughmand Arabi’s boundary bending otherworldly landscapes are informed by her experiences navigating a politicized Iranian body that has been severed from its native land. She reflects on the entanglement of environmental crises, cultural trauma, manufactured borders, and forced displacement. Through allegorical and introspective narratives, Foroughmand Arabi acknowledges and preserves the links that tie her cultural heritage to the land and promotes reconciliation and healing. Recurring themes of freedom and escape, grief, boundaries, cycles, and the interconnectedness of all life are explored in Foroughmand Arabi’s work.
Yalda Foroughmand Arabi graduated with a BFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her recent work has been shown in ‘Game Over’ at Soloway Gallery, ‘Identity Politics’ at AIR Gallery, and in several online and in-person exhibits at Paradice Palase.
